Social Smarts Squad

Ongoing, small groups using cooperative games, role play and fantasy games, experiential learning activities, books, and play-based strategies, informed by Social Thinking™ methodology. Weekly activities will strengthen social perspective taking, self-awareness, executive functioning, and social problem-solving skills. 


Host: Jackie Weber, LCSW

Who: Groups are geared towards children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and/or anxiety disorders, working on improving behavioral and emotional regulation.

When:  Every Thursday afterschool, Tentative Starting date September 5, 2024. Individual intake sessions will be scheduled prior to entering the group, to ensure group goals are a good fit

Girls group- Grades 7th - 8th
Thursday - Start date and time tbd, January 2025

Group size: 3 max (will offer two groups in needed, based on referrals received)

Fee and/or insurance billed: $80/group self-pay or in network with BCBS

Group goals: 

  • For children to understand and learn how to navigate the social world

  • To respond to various social situations and interactions effectively

  • Make improvement in their identified social goals 

Weekly feedback will be provided to parents at the end of each group session, including a review of the concepts taught during the session and suggestions on how to reinforce these ideas at home and in other settings. Additionally, monthly parent sessions will be offered.
